Ben Delatour Scout Ranch Plans for 2023 Winter Slash Pile Burning

Burning will occur when conditions specified by Larimer County are met and personnel are available.

Fort Collins, CO - The Ben Delatour Scout Ranch will burn slash piles during the winter months as weather conditions allow. The ranch has implemented several forest management treatments over the past few years with assistance from the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed, Larimer County Conservation Corps, The Ember Alliance, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Larimer Conservation District, Wildlands Restoration Volunteers, The Nature Conservancy, Colorado State Forest Service, and numerous volunteers. Each winter slash piles from these projects are burned to remove excess fuel from the forest floor.

Burning will occur when conditions specified by Larimer County are met and personnel are available. This includes adequate snow cover and favorable smoke dispersal conditions. Smoke will be visible during daylight hours, but all fires will be extinguished by nightfall.

The Scout Ranch is located south of Red Feather Lakes Road (County Road 74E) and on both sides of the Boy Scout Road (County Road 68C) for approximately 4 miles, and covering 3,200 acres.

Prescribed fire smoke may affect your health. For more information, see https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/wood-smoke-and-health.
