Dear Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to announce that after more than seven years, I will be leaving CPRW. My last day with the organization will be May 31, 2021.

In 2012, a group of stakeholders who were committed to helping the Poudre watershed came together to plan and prioritize recovery needs from what was then the most devastating natural disaster our basin had seen. That group eventually formed the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed (CPRW) and, in 2014, I had the privilege to be the first Executive Director to help lead this nascent group. Since that time, we have seen floods, we have seen fires, but through it all, we worked together towards a more resilient watershed.

Every day I have been amazed and grateful for the commitment and passion that our staff, board, and stakeholders have willingly brought to the table to help solve complex problems for the good of this watershed. As the organization and its programs have grown over the years, so have I as a person. Leading CPRW and working with the community that has grown up around it, has been the best part of my career. Over the years, we leaned into our mission to protect and restore the Poudre through collaboration and, at every step of the way, partners from across the basin stepped up to help out.  I leave behind not only great colleagues but great friends as well.

As we worked together to create a more resilient watershed, at each step of the way, we also created a fantastic, resilient organization. I know our staff, board, and partners will work together to find the next Executive Director that will guide CPRW forward. I am excited to see what the next chapter holds for CPRW.  I am sure that the best is yet to come.

Sincerely,

 Jen Kovecses

The Board of CPRW would like to congratulate Jen on her new adventure, and to express our deepest gratitude for the dedication, resilience and compassion Jen has brought to our Poudre River Watershed.  We are sad to see her depart as our Executive Director but are excited for the expanded impact Jen will be able to make for conservation programs across Colorado and the West in her new position.

The Board has worked closely with Jen and the CPRW staff over the last couple weeks to plan for the organization’s transition.  We are fortunate to have a strong team who remain dedicated to the mission and current projects.  The Board is confident in navigating the interim period until a new Executive Director is identified and will use this opportunity to strengthen CPRW’s organizational structure and long-term capacity.  We seek to honor the collaborative legacy that Jen founded within CPRW and will continue to provide leadership for our local watershed health.  More outreach will occur with external stakeholders as the Board refines the vision of CPRW’s future impact.

Best wishes to you Jen!  You deserve it!
